The Stena Sonangol Suezmax Pool – a joint venture between Angolan national oil company Sonangol and shipping company Stena Bulk – has added a new oil tanker to its fleet in Angola. The Aura M vessel – owned by ship management company Hammonia Reederei – has a capacity of 156,000 metric tons and brings the total number of vessels in the Stena Sonangol Suezmax Pool to 20.
According to Johan Jäwert, Co-Pool Manager of the Stena Sonangol Suezmax Pool and Head of Stena Bulk USA, “This new membership and the addition of Aura M further underscores the pool’s status as a viable Suezmax pool option, now with four Suezmax owners as members.”
The membership represents the first deal between Stena Sonangol Suezmax Pool and Hammonia Reederei, and according to Dr. Karsten Liebing, Managing Partner at Hammonia Reederei, the company is “very much looking forward to further collaboration between the two companies in the future.”
